Gunna prematurely celebrated his 28th birthday over the weekend by hitting a nightclub and linking up with close friend and collaborator Lil Baby.
Ahead of his actual birthday on Monday (June 14), Lil Baby surprised Gunna by gifting him an Air Jordan shoebox filled to the brim with money. Lil Baby posted several videos of the celebration to his Instagram Stories on Saturday (June 12), with Gunna opening up the box and showing off the wads of cash for the camera.
Lil Baby wrote in the caption, “Happy 4 Day Twin !! @gunna this shit 4evaaaaaa. @gunna happy c day you Kno how I’m coming.”

On Sunday (June 13), Gunna took to Instagram to show off the cash on his shoulder before stepping into a private jet, while revealing exactly how much Lil Baby gave him.
“I’m on the way to L.A.,” he said in a video. “My birthday Monday, Baby gave me $100,000 last night. Thank you twin.”

Gunna and Lil Baby released their joint album Drip Harder in 2018 and have previously teased a sequel. During a July 2019 interview, Lil Baby revealed Gunna helped him learn how to rap.
“When I started rapping he actually started helping me rap,” he said. “I done paid Gunna to write my songs. I never put the songs out, but when I first started to rap I used to pay him like $100. I ain’t never recorded the songs and put them out, but that’s how I used to practice to try to get it right. ‘Cause I just started rapping out of nowhere. I would get him to show me little stuff, like how to record a hook. I ain’t know none of that.”
Lil Baby has another reason to celebrate with his Lil Durk collaborative album The Voice of the Heroes debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. With features from Travis Scott, Young Thug, Meek Mill and Rod Wave, the project sold roughly 150,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week, with 144,000 of that figure coming from streams.
