Washington, D.C. – Despite the deadly insurrection at U.S. Capitol building on January 6 and historic second impeachment of Donald Trump, the outgoing president will remain in office until President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in on Wednesday (January 20).
But before Trump goes, he reportedly plans on pardoning Lil Wayne along with up to 100 other people on his last full day in office. According to Fox News, Trump will leave the White House for a final time on Wednesday morning after issuing around 100 pardons and commutations to white collar criminals, high-profile rappers and a jailed Florida eye doctor.
Wayne is currently facing a federal weapons charge stemming from a December 2019 incident in Miami. Last month, he struck a plea deal with the federal government and agreed to plead guilty to illegally possessing a loaded weapon but still faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Earlier this month, Bloomberg reported Kodak Black is also on the list of potential pardons, although it’s unclear if he will actually make the cut.
Weezy raised a few eyebrows in November 2020 when he publicly endorsed Trump for re-election and posed with the embattled president at the White House. In a tweet, the Cash Money legend touted Trump’s Platinum Plan and praised him for allegedly listening to the Black community.
“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus,” Wayne wrote at the time. “besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”
It turns out that meeting could greatly benefit Wayne if Trump does indeed issue the pardons and commutations on Tuesday (January 19) as expected.
