Posted by Lupe Fiasco returned to the music scene with his eighth studio album, Drill Music in Zion, and he’s keeping the ball rolling with the first visuals of the project.
On Thursday (July 7), Lupe blessed fans with the official music video for “Autoboto” featuring Nayirah. The clip finds the Chicago rapper riding around his hometown in a Porsche Carrera before parking and catching views of the city skyline.
In the song itself, Lupe compares his skills on the mic to a Porsche Carrera, and it’s not the first time he’s mentioned the car on a track. He’s referred to himself as Carrera Lu, starting first with the track of the same name on his debut album, Food & Liquor. He also did another song in 2021, mentioning the car on the single “Carrera Luis Hamilton Jr.”
For those wondering where the love for the sports car came from, Lupe explained it on his blog in 2008. According to Lupe, he just really loves the car and needed an alter ego.
“He’s my alter ego,” Lupe wrote. “I got em because I love Carrera Porsches, so I was like yo like Carrera, I’mma be Carrera Lu. I needed an alter ego you know what I’m saying? Somebody flashy, fly-the whole thing. And that’s who Carrera Lu is; the anti Lupe Fiasco.”
Lupe’s new album Drill Music in Zion has fans talking on social media. The 10-track project has been a long time coming, and the rapper recently revealed on Twitter that it was recorded on GarageBand with a $100 USB microphone.

“I ‘wrote’ (I actually didn’t write it more like spoke it) & self-recorded ‘Drill Music In Zion’ from scratch over the course of 72 hours, give or take some hours, only stopping to eat and sleep, entirely on GarageBand with a $100 USB microphone in my living room,” he tweeted on Tuesday (June 28).
