Metro Boomin is undoubtedly one of the key figures behind Atlanta’s dominance in today’s Hip Hop landscape. The beat maestro joined Wallo and Gillie Da Kid on their Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast on Sunday (October 17), and he was put on the spot when asked to name his top five ATL rappers of all time.
The “Jumpman” producer was hesitant to reveal his list, but ended up sharing five names that included Future, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, T.I. and his Savage Mode running mate 21 Savage.
“I’ma say Pluto because he definitely transformed this shit and I feel like it was a co-op between him and [Young Thug],” he said. “I know [21 Savage], that’s my boy, but he don’t give a fuck about being considered a top five artist from Atlanta.”
Surprisingly, Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Outkast legends André 3000 and Big Boi failed to make Metro’s list. But he backtracked a bit when complaining how tough it was to narrow it down to just five rappers when there are “generations of this shit” bubbling out of Atlanta.
Later into the episode, Metro Boomin put his production expertise on display when he cooked up a hard-hitting beat (complete with a Whitney Houston sample) on the spot in less than 20 minutes. Gillie Da Kid even put his rapper hat back on and spit a few bars over the finished beat.

As for what’s to come from Metro Boomin, the Atlanta native recently teased a sequel to his platinum-certified debut album Not All Heroes Wear Capes, which dropped back in 2019. The Boominati hitmaker gave fans a glimpse of the tracklist, revealing possible collaborations with A$AP Rocky, Don Toliver, Brent Faiyaz and James Blake.
