His approach feels slower, more reflective, shaped by the kind of life moments that leave marks long after the noise fades. Growing up between Wilkesboro and Boone, he carried the feeling of being an outsider, and that perspective continues to shape the emotional weight inside his beats.
Tester began experimenting with production through BandLab, teaching himself from the ground up. Early attempts, by his own admission, were rough. He recalls that period with a sense of humor: “Looking back, the biggest thing I laugh at is that I wasn’t really putting myself or my passion into it. I wasn’t making great beats — it was mostly just noise.” Once he started treating music as an outlet for his real experiences, the sound began to shift.
Struggle sits close to the center of his creative process. Tester speaks openly about the personal challenges that pushed him deeper into music. “My struggles are what push me to make music,” he explains. “They’re also what motivate me to create for people who might be going through similar things.” That sense of empathy gives his production a purpose beyond placements or industry attention.
What keeps him moving forward is a small circle of belief, especially from his wife, who encouraged him when he nearly walked away from music altogether. Today, Tester is focused on sharpening his sound and learning new skills, including songwriting and vocals. The road ahead is still unfolding, and he seems comfortable with that pace.
