There’s plenty of collaborative records this week, also including Black Thought and Danger Mouse’s “Because” which features Russ, Joey Bada$$ and Dylan Cartlidge, Consequence with the Kanye West-produced “Blood Stain” and Juicy J and Pi’erre Bourne’s “This Fronto.”
The music just keeps coming so keep reading for the internet’s best list of new music to drop on the week ending on Friday (June 10), below and let us know in the comments your favorites.
Kid Cudi – “Do What I Want”
Mr. Rager himself has reappeared from whichever distant planet he was inhabiting to bless fans with his latest single “Do What I Want.”
Cudi, who’s most recently singles include the Nigo-produced “Want It Bad” and “Stars In The Sky” from the Sonic The Hedgehog 2 soundtrack, has found himself in a constant struggle with his mentor-turned-disgraced friend Kanye West over the past year. Beef and drama aside, it’s a treat to hear the Ohio crooner in a more positive headspace.
Pharrell f. Tyler, The Creator & 21 Savage – “Cash In Cash Out”
Pharrell is one of the most storied producer-artists of the past two decades. His solo work, and joint efforts with Chad Hugo under The Neptunes, has found him working with everyone from Pusha T and Jay-Z to Jack Harlow, Lil Uzi Vert and Ariana Grande.
“Cash In Cash Out,” the latest single from the VA artist, brings him together with CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST rapper Tyler, The Creator and the hard bars of 21 Savage for a posse cut for the ages.
Consequence – “Blood Stain”
Black Thought & Danger Mouse f. Joey Bada$$, Russ & Dylan Cartlidge – “Because”
A few months back Black Thought, the legendary frontman for The Roots woke up and decided to remind the world of his rapping prowess.
Leading up to his collaborative LP with super-producer Danger Mouse, Black Thought first dropped “No Gold Teeth” in the first week of May and now he’s back with “Because” which features guest verses from Joey Bada$$, Russ and Dylan. Driven by a soulful sample, “Because” keeps fans satisfied as they continue to wait for the full project.
Rubi Rose – “Wifey”
Juicy J & Pi’erre Bourne – “This Fronto”
When Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia fame and SossHouse leader Pi’erre Bourne announced they’d be joining forces for a collaborative project many wondered how the cross-generational music would sound. If there were any doubters, they’ve now been appeased as the duo just dropped “This Fronto,” quelling any naysayers.
Blending the crunk-infused tones of Juicy J with Bourne’s SoundCloud sensibilities, “This Fronto” is made for the gym, club or anytime you need a burst of energy.
Rae Sremmurd – “Denial”
NLE Choppa – “Apart From You”
Memphis rapper NLE Choppa has undergone several changes in his career, from the malicious bars of Cottonwood and Top Shotta to the introspective and meditative From Dark to Light. He’s a dichotomous character, one who pushes back against categorization and is capable of toting guns and selling natural herbs simultaneously.
“Apart From You” is proof of his duality. Following-up the winding storytelling of “Set Up Story 1,” Choppa’s latest is a melodic ballad about growing distant from a loved one.
Mike Dimes & JID – “Home (Remix)”
Texas-based rapper Mike Dimes went viral on TikTok and never looked back. Through songs such as “HOME,” “NO TRENDS” and “BACKROOM” Dimes’ punchy flow has reached millions of fans who are drawn to his Houston-influenced raps.
A hustler down to his bones, Dimes took the TikTok trend and used it to launch himself into new heights, but he would never let it define him. Working with JID, Dreamville’s rapid-fire spitter, Dimes breathes life back into one of his first breakout hits.
Ransom f. Freddie Gibbs – “Demise”
SwaVay – “JUGG”
Atlanta MC SwaVay first broke onto the mainstream Hip Hop circuit through “2 AM,” a melancholy and melodic anthem from his 2019 project Pure Infinity which tore through TikTok like a wild fire.
He’s now back with “JUGG,” an uptempo bouncing single which introduces a different side to the “Yaya” rapper. Sliding between several different flows with ease, SwaVay’s latest is a reminder that he has much more to offer than just a viral song.
