Alabama rapper Pink Siifu has shared the visual for his Gumbo’! opener “Gumbo’! 4 tha Folks, Hold On,” and the video follows a shirtless Siifu as he smokes a blunt and meanders around his home in a blissed out state.
The relaxing visual accompaniment finds Siifu interacting with friends and family and sitting down for a gorgeous meal alongside loved ones. The video, which was directed and produced by Siifu and Amira Green, follows on the heels of September’s video for “Big Ole,” which features BbyMutha. Back in July, the rapper also released a visual for “Bussin’ (Cold)” which featured Turich Benjy and was directed by Dylan McGale.
Aside from releasing a contender For HipHopDX’s Best Rap Album of the year, the rapper also recently linked up with The Alchemist for his September project This Thing of Ours, which included collaborations with Siifu, Maxo, Sideshow, Boldy James and Earl Sweatshirt.
In an interview with The New York Times in August, the 29-year-old discussed the process of creating Gumbo’! and how he drew from different southern sounds to craft the record.
“I didn’t want people to box me in,” Siifu told the publication. “I was trying to make something that reminded me of those drives from Birmingham to Cincinnati. You can lump me in with anybody you want to, but my music is everything,” he added later in the interview. “It’s a slow meal. You at grandma’s house, you ain’t gotta rush.”
