Japanese fashion designer NIGO became a legend in Hip Hop culture through his BAPE clothing line with rappers and fans alike dressing up in the hottest new pieces from the company. One of BAPE’s biggest supporters was Pusha T, who helped popularize the brand in the early to mid-2000s.
These days, NIGO is no longer running the ship over at BAPE as he created a new company called HUMAN MADE, and many of his supporters are following him. During a recent episode of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, Pusha T explained he is no longer associated with NIGO’s former company.
“Yeah, it’s done. Yeah,” Pusha T said when host Joe La Puma asked if he would still wear BAPE nine years after NIGO left the brand altogether.

Pharrell had sung a similar tune during his appearance on Drink Champs in December 2020 where he said he doesn’t wear BAPE either. NIGO initially sold his shares of BAPE in 2011, two years before leaving it behind. These days NIGO is keeping his fashion sense alive with HUMAN MADE and he’s already had a few Hip Hop heads assist him in bringing forth the new brand.
Pharrell has supported the new brand ever since NIGO birthed the company, and Lil Uzi Vert even collaborated with HUMAN MADE for a unique vampire-inspired collection in September. If that wasn’t enough, NIGO tapped Pharrell, A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Tyler, the Creator and more for his upcoming album I Know NIGO, which is slated to arrive on March 25.
In February, NIGO signed a deal with Universal Music Group through Steven Victor’s Victor Victor Worldwide label.
