Snoop Dogg sat down with The Breakfast Club earlier this week where he revealed Eminem wasn’t on his Top 10 rappers list — dead or alive. When asked why, the gangsta rap pioneer explained, “Cause there’s some niggas in the ’80s he can’t fuck with. Like Rakim, like Big Daddy Kane, like KRS-One, like LL Cool J, shall I go on? Like Ice Cube. You understand me?”
He made sure to note Em is still someone he respects, even though he’s not on Snoop’s list of favorite MCs.
“I ain’t got no time to play with it — it is what it is,” he added. “Like cuz did that. He did that to the fullest. That’s one of my teammates. That’s one of my brothers. He did that. But when it comes to this Hip Hop shit that I can’t live without, I can live without that.”
After showing love to Slim Shady via Instagram on Friday (July 31), Snoop has returned with his official list of his Top 10 rappers of all time or as he says, “Mines not yours.”
The list includes Slick Rick, Ice Cube, LL COOL J, KRS-One, Rakim, Run and DMC from Run-DMC, Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T and Too $hort.

Unsurprisingly, Snoop’s initial comments on The Breakfast Club sparked an impassioned debate on social media. As the multiplatinum-selling rapper explained in the caption, he was sick of everyone complaining and basically wanted to shut people up.
“A lot niggaz been cryin about me leaving people off my top 10 without Even seeing my shit so here it is,” he wrote. “F. Y. I. Notice how none of my peers or mCs after me are on the list respect ya Gz is what I was taught. if u offended you’ll get over it. I get left off a lot of top 10s I’m not even on this one.”
Snoop originally told Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee he feels Dr. Dre has a lot to do with people putting Eminem in the upper echelon of MCs.
“Eminem? The Great White hope?” Snoop said. “White rappers had zero respect in rap, let’s keep that 1-thowwow. None. He [Dre] has probably put Eminem in the position to where he could be like labeled as one of Top 10 rappers ever. I don’t think so, but the game feels like he’s Top 10 lyricist and all that comes with it but that’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre and Dr. Dre helped him find the best Eminem he could find.”
