Tory Lanez has been laying low since July when Megan Thee Stallion claimed he shot her in both feet after a night out in the Hollywood Hills with Kylie Jenner. As it turns out, he was busy in the studio.
On Thursday (September 24), the former Quarantine Radio host surprised fans with a new album called DAYSTAR. The 17-track project arrived via SoundCloud and instantly dives into the shooting incident. Album opener “Money Over Fallouts” talks about his side of the story and the aftermath of Megan’s confession that he was indeed the triggerman. Around the 2-minute mark, Lanez denies he shot her and insinuates they were romantically linked.
“Can’t cry now, I’m gonna laugh later,” he raps. “Girl you had the nerve to write that statement on that affidavit, knowing I don’t do it/But I’m coming at my truest, tryin’ to keep this shit 200 with ya, shorty/I can’t prove it but them people in yo’ ear/They the true ones that I feel that really got you thinking Tory Lanez would do you in for real.
“Don’t forget you was my bitch, I held it down and kept it real/I would never paint no fake picture of you just for some mills/And I thought that you were solid too, but look at how you doing me/Look at you doing me, people tryin’ to ruin me.”
Later in the song, he questions Megan’s injuries, rapping, “How the fuck you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons?” He ends the track by bragging about having “bad bitches who want to have an orgy.”
Lanez made a cryptic announcement early Thursday that read, “To my fans … I’m sorry for my silence … but respectfully .. I got time today.”
He included a time of 9 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, which coincides with new music releases. Evidently, he was talking about the album. Minutes before DAYSTAR‘s arrival, he shared the cover art via Instagram and wrote, “There is a time to stay silent . And a time to speak ….. I said all I could say on this … ALL PLATFORMS … in 5 MINUTES ….. #DAYSTAR.”
The album includes songs such as “Things I Should Have Said,” “A Woman” and “Friends Become Strangers,” making it appear DAYSTAR was designed to solely address the Megan drama.
