Consider Trippie Redd a rapper with great timing in 2021.
The “Dark Knight Dummo” rapper — whose latest album Trip At Knight hit the digital market on August 20 — notched his fourth No. 1 atop Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart after the project scanned 81,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
Ten of the album tracks are also alive and well on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The electronic effort features eventful appearances from the likes next-gen likes of Lil Uzi Vert, SoFaygo and Playboi Carti to late rap martyrs Juice WRLD and XXXTENTACION to megastar power from Drake, the latter collaboration which arguably spawned the recent streaming wars between Kanye West and the Certified Lover Boy.
On the Trip At Knight track “Betrayal,” Drake fired off a quip heard around the world with, “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know/Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go/Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me, it’s set in stone” — a shot directed towards Donda’s fluctuating release date.
Kanye would take the lyrics as personal as the Michael Jordan meme; allegedly leaking Drake’s home and address and even going on to spam his Toronto headquarters with Donda advertisements.
Trip At Knight’s Billboard success actually succeeds previous albums, 2018’s A Love Letter to You 3, 2019’s A Love Letter to You 4, 2020’s Pegasus and spells great news for diehard fans nationwide.
