YNW Melly released his new album Just a Moment of Slime from behind bars on Friday (August 13), but his limited promo options didn’t come without punishments.
The Florida rapper took to Instagram on Tuesday (August 17) to reveal a prison officer at Broward County Jail had confiscated his Gucci clothes and removed access to video visitation for around three months. All of this is a result of promoting his latest project through an Instagram video, but he doesn’t have any regrets.
“To all my fans i love y’all and truly appreciate y’all,” YNW Melly said. “the broward county main jail lieutenant had confiscated my gucci shoes and my gucci sock / headband due to the promotion video i posted for my album in just a matter of slime last Friday and they have took my video visitation privileges for 90 days so i cannot interact with my family and fans through video visit.”
He added, “but the risk was worth it we went #1. they can take my shoes, socks and visit but they can’t take that #1 away i did it for y’all.”

YNW Melly was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in February 2019 for allegedly shooting two members of his crew, YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, with prosecutors seeking the death penalty.
Just a Moment of Slime is stacked with features from Lil Baby, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Lil Durk, Kodak Black, Queen Naija, Lil Tjay, Kevin Gates and Tee Grizzley. The project serves as the follow-up to his debut album Melly vs. Melvin, which was released in November 2019.
According to TMZ, YNW Melly worked on the album for eight months over the phone with sound engineers, but recorded his own verses before entering prison. The title of the album comes from Melly being unable to get a trial date due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down courts.
