Coldwater, MS – Memphis rapper Big Boogie — real name John Lotts — was reportedly arrested on Thursday afternoon (April 8) following a shooting in Coldwater, Mississippi. According to WMC Action News 5, officers found one person with a gunshot wound on the side of Interstate 55 after the Senatobia Police Department received a call just before 1 p.m.

The victim apparently told police multiple suspects continued driving south, with law enforcement agencies then tracking vehicles to the Highway 6 exit at Batesville and taking 21 people into custody while seizing four vehicles. Officers found a firearm, drugs and cash at the Senatobia crime scene and arrested three others, bringing the total to 24 arrests.

24-year-old Big Boogie — who is signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG label — was reportedly one of those arrested. The report claims he was in a caravan heading to the Biloxi Zodiac nightclub ahead of a concert set to start at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

“It was something out of a movie,” a witness described. “Lights were everywhere. It was like the 4th of July. It may have been 50 cars already there. They was like hold your camera still like you shaking and I was like if you were here, you’d be shaking too ’cause I don’t know where the bullets going to go.”

Another witness said, “They were slamming ladies on the ground and I feel like that was unfair.”

Big Boogie released his Final Nightmare EP in October 2020 with guest appearances from Moneybagg Yo, DeJ Loaf and Yo Gotti. A live performance of “Mental Healing” has over 23 million YouTube views, with his “In Session” music video also collecting nine million views.
