The younger brother of Chicago producer Young Chop was reportedly shot and killed on Sunday (April 17). According to an Instagram post from SayCheeseTV, Johnny May Cash was hit in the thigh and later succumbed to his injuries.
“Chicago rapper, Young Chop’s brother Johnny May Cash, was killed today after being shot in the thigh,” the post reads. “Many people believe it’s tied to the viral video of him beating a girl last month.”
Johnny May Cash’s last Instagram post is lighting up with tributes to the fallen rapper with comments such as, “Y’all don’t know he had his hands on a lot of this drill shit back when it took off. 100 percent. RIP” and “Jonny may cash was part of our sosa area !! And folks nem man really a legend may he Rest In Peace.”

As suggested, some people believe the murder is related to a video allegedly involving Johnny May Cash that went viral in January.
In the graphic clip, Cash violently throws a young woman against a wall twice while grabbing her by the hair, then punches her in the head. The woman eventually runs away, barefoot, just to escape the abuse.
Young Chop, who signed Johnny May Cash, has had his own share of troubles. In April 2020, he was arrested for failure to maintain insurance, expired tag/registration, driving without a valid license and reckless conduct. During an Instagram Live session, he admitted he was fearful of leaving Gwinnett County Jail in Georgia and believed someone snitched on him.
“Hey y’all boys told on me,” he said in the clip. “Them boys working with the people, man. I hope nobody calls me while I’m on live right now. Young Chop is free you guys. This shit crazy.”
He asked in a second video, “Who this is? They said they coming to pick me up? I don’t know who that is. I’m scared. Am I good? I’m just trying to make sure now. I don’t know who the fuck this is though. They ain’t gonna shoot a muthafucka in front of muthafuckin’ police station, is they? On god. I don’t know who this car is. Who this is? I don’t know who that is. Man, Young Chop free though.”
Chop was arrested again just days later for violating his probation. He was initially placed on probation following an arrest on an aggravated cruelty to animals charge for allegedly starving a dog to death.
The arrests came shortly after Young Chop ignited a feud with 21 Savage and went looking for him in his old Atlanta neighborhood where he claimed he was shot. Savage didn’t engage much aside from saying he “done lost his mind.”
This is a developing story.
