YouTube Originals has unveiled the trailer for their next original special Home Courts, a documentary that explores Atlanta’s die-hard love for basketball.
Narrated by and starring Quavo, the documentary follows the basketball-loving Migos rapper around his hometown as he educates viewers on Atlanta’s deep history with basketball. The special also features many celebrities who call Atlanta their home, including former Mayors Andrew Young and Kasim Reed, NFL player Walter Stith and Killer Mike.
Home Courts premieres exclusively on Migos’ YouTube channel on December 16 and also follows Quavo’s journey as he builds his own court.
“You wanna know what’s really going on in the city?” Quavo can be heard saying in the trailer. “Go to the courts, the big ones, and the small ones, the playgrounds, and stadiums. That’s where you’ll find what makes people angry, what’s giving them hope, and what needs to change. That’s what I’m going to do, [by] starting my own court in my own town.”
Quavo’s skills on the court are well documented in rap. In April, the 30-year-old was caught on video tripping up YK Osiris with a nasty crossover during a celebrity game.
The month prior, Quavo also starred with Jack Harlow in a 2-on-2 exhibition match against 2 Chainz and Lil Baby as part of a showcase meant to replace the canceled NBA Celebrity Game. Quavo was the Most Valuable Player of the game, scoring more than half of his team’s points in a brutal 21 to 7 victory over his fellow Georgia rappers.
Along with the debut of new original content, YouTube also unveiled their picks for Top 3 music videos of the year, with Pooh Shiesty’s “Back in Blood” coming in the No. 1 spot with over two million views. Shiesty’s video was then followed by The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” and Lil Nas X’s “Montero.”
