Lil Wayne To Release 'Tha Carter V' Original Version This Week

Lil Wayne has been taking a trip down memory lane in recent months. Not long after releasing 2009’s No Ceilings mixtape to streaming services for the first time ever, the Young Money star is preparing to drop the original version of Tha Carter V.

Originally released in 2018, the 23-track project served as Wayne’s 12th studio album and featured the late XXXTENTACION, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti and Young Money Entertainment president Mack Maine, among others.

The news of the project was unveiled via Young Money’s Twitter account as Maine was gifting Weezy with a brand new McLaren 720S for his 38th birthday. According to the caption, the album is expected to arrive on Friday (September 25).

“In honor of THE GOATs birthday, @mackmaine dropped off two big gifts today — a new amethyst McLaren for @liltunechi AND the news of the OG CV dropping on 9/25,” the caption reads. “WHATS HARDER, LIFE OR MR. CARTER?!?!?

Tha Carter V arrived in September 2018 after years of delays and legal troubles. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 480,126 total album equivalent units sold in its first week. It marked Weezy’s fourth project to nab the crown and also the second-largest streaming week for an album ever.

Wayne’s last Carter album, 2011’s Tha Carter IV, sold roughly 964,000 copies in its first week, earning the highest first-week album sales since Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. It also debuted at No. 1 and was certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) nearly three months after its release.

Lil Wayne Confirms ‘Tha Carter VI’ & ‘No Ceilings 3’ Are On The Way
