Rising Manchester vocalist Femi Tahiru has shared his new single ‘The Weekend’.
Part of a current wave of street soul sounds emanating from his home city, Femi’s approach is entirely distinct.
Early cuts such as ‘What You Want’ and ‘Time For It’ put him on the map, before he went back into the studio.
New single ‘The Weekend’ is out now, and it finds Femi working alongside producers Luke Mac (part of the Disciples trio) and Baga.
The lush chords give way to his assured vocal, so potent in its intense execution, but retaining a bold sense of warmth.
Moving into a fresh space, it’s all part of his goal of “giving people an emotion they’ve never really felt before…”
Femi explains…
“It takes you through the journey of being at a gathering or a social event with your partner, and feeling quite alone and distant from everything and everyone once your partner leaves – leaving you in a world of confusion and anxiousness. Of course you may find yourself intoxicated in these situations, and that’s what I am, which makes the whole scenario bigger than it already is – like I’m having a bad trip, and she’s not there to calm me down”.
Tune in now.
