Will Smith Casts Meme Bait With Gym Workout Photo

Will Smith knows how the internet works, so why not embrace the meme culture that comes with it? The rapper/actor took to Instagram on Thursday (June 10) to share a photo of himself putting in work in the gym, but he could already foresee people flocking to Photoshop to take the image out of context before he even posted it.

Knowing what was about to come, he decided to cast the bait himself with a sarcastic caption about not wanting people to edit him into other scenarios.

“Please don’t use this pic to photoshop me into precarious situations,” Will Smith wrote about him hanging in a captain’s chair and lifting a medicine ball with his feet.

Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the internet to act on his encouragement, with people editing him onto skis, jetpacks and theme park rides.

The post comes just over a month after Will Smith admitted he was in the “worst shape” of his life, which led to him teaming up with YouTube to launch a six-part unscripted series called Best Shape of My Life. The series is said to show the actor “rebuilding his body into the best shape of his life and getting his groove back along the way.”

A description of the series continues, “This is the fun, funny, inspirational, wildly adventurous, and deeply entertaining story of Smith challenging himself to improve every aspect of his fitness, from agility to power to recovery and more.”

In a shirtless Instagram post, Will Smith vowed to ditch all the late-night snacks he enjoyed throughout quarantine, with plans to get into a better shape than he’s ever been in before.

“This is the body that carried me through an entire pandemic and countless days grazing thru the pantry,” he said in May. “I love this body, but I wanna FEEL better. No more midnight muffins…this is it! Imma get in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!!!!! Teaming up with @YouTube to get my health & wellness back on track. Hope it works!”

Best Shape of My Life serves as his second YouTube series following 2018’s Will Smith: The Jump, which reached almost 18 million views in its first two days of release. The show saw him bungee jump out of a helicopter over the Grand Canyon for his 50th birthday.
