Megan Thee Stallion suffered an insurmountable loss when her mother died of cancer in 2019. Needless to say, she got a tough lesson in understanding grief and what it feels like to lose someone so incredibly close.
On Tuesday (June 15), Megan learned a young fan of hers named Shaniah had died unexpectedly, leaving the family wondering how they were going to pay for funeral costs.
One of Shaniah’s friends — who goes by Selena on Twitter — tweeted Megan about a GoFundMe campaign that had been set up in Shaniah’s name and Megan acted swiftly, asking how much they needed. Shortly after, a $8,155 donation in Megan Pete’s name appeared on the page.
“Meg we lost a hottie,” the friend wrote. “our best friend passed away unexpectedly. They absolutely loved you, listening to ur songs was something we did every time we were together. We’re helping their family w funeral costs. We started a gofundme & are halfway there. @theestallion.”

The original goal was $16,000, which was met following Megan Thee Stallion’s generous donation.
Selena took to Twitter with her excitement and wrote, “YOU GUYS I CANT BELIEVE THIS!! WE HIT THE GOAL @theestallion THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING THEIR FAMILY! THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!! FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!!! I AM CRYING SO FULL OF EMOTIONS.”

Megan Thee Stallion has been charitable when it comes to her Hotties fanbase before. In 2019, she donated $1,200 to the funeral fund of a fan she met in Washington D.C. Earlier this month, she gave away a scholarship for one lucky student to attend Roc Nation’s School of Music, Sports and Entertainment.
The full ride will be for all four years at the Roc’s new school located at Brooklyn’s Long Island University campus, which will open its doors this fall. Potential students can apply for the scholarship here.
“If I can use my resources to open doors and create opportunities for at least one student, then it’s a victory,” she said. “It’s important that we encourage our students to pursue their passions and put them in positions to become the next game-changer in whichever fields they choose.”
