Anderson, IN – Lil Devin was looking to use 2022 as a fresh slate to springboard his budding rap career, but the Indiana native won’t even get the chance. According to FOX59, Lil Devin — born Devin Swain — was shot and killed during a home invasion on New Year’s Eve (December 31) shortly before midnight while celebrating with his family.
A group of masked men entered the home and went after the 24-year-old rapper in what appeared to be a targeted attack. Anderson police arrived on the party scene when Devin was transported to a local hospital where he later passed away from injuries to his chest.
“It was traumatic — very traumatic [and] something that I wouldn’t want anyone to ever go through,” Swain’s brother Donald Cox said. “I wouldn’t wish that on anyone’s family. It’s definitely hard, we never really expected something like this to come about to such a phenomenal person. He was just one of those people that believed in me before I even believed in myself.”
Devin was also a mentor to aspiring rappers in the area. Police are still searching for witnesses that could result in leads and eventually suspects for Devin’s tragic murder.
He unleashed his 900 Vet album in November via Ten Toes Entertainment which featured standouts such as “Long As I’m Free/First Day Out” where he celebrates his freedom.
