Memphis, TN – Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has ingratiated himself to the fabric of Tennessee’s unofficial capital.
Moneybagg Yo and Ja have formed a bond since his arrival to the city and the Memphis rapper gifted Morant a Bread Gang chain on Tuesday (April 12) ahead of the Grizzlies’ playoff run.
“@JaMorant come get yo trophy Proud of ya bra #Big12,” Big Speaker captioned his Instagram Story clip featuring the iced-out chain and glistening Bread Gang pendant.
The superstar point guard responded by reposting the Instagram Story, writing, “My Dawg!”

The Memphis Grizzlies’ playoff matchup is now set with Game 1 scheduled for Saturday afternoon (April 16) at 3:30 p.m. ET against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who defeated the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night (April 12) to clinch the 7-seed.
Maybe Morant will rock the Bread Gang chain to Game 1 at the FedEx Forum over the weekend or it’s possible Moneybagg Yo could be courtside and gift him the ice post-game.
Big Bag and Morant, who is the odds-on favorite to win the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award, have been tapped in since he was a rookie and Moneybagg welcomed him to Memphis. The two even starred in a Nike commercial together.
The 2020 Rookie of the Year called Moneybagg Yo name-dropping him on “Rookie of the Year” celebrating his Rookie of the Year honors as his favorite reference to himself from a Hip Hop artist.
“Once I got in tune with bruh, I was always zoomed in like, ‘He’s a real problem.’ But you got people like Pooh Shiesty and them, Pooh Shiesty been put me onto his highlight reels in college,” Moneybagg Yo said of Morant at the 2021 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Summit.
“He take pride in the game like I take pride in music… Like, me and Ja together doing this, you got sports and you got Hip Hop, you got entertainment. On both sides you can’t stop us, we on top.”
Ja looks to lead the Grizzlies to their first NBA championship with the journey beginning at home on Saturday afternoon against the Timberwolves. He finished his third season averaging 27 points with just under seven assists and six rebounds per game.
