New details have emerged regarding the recent arrest of rapper Chuckyy in Chicago, which involved a tense standoff with law enforcement and the subsequent discovery of a loaded firearm and a significant amount of cash. According to a proffer letter obtained from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on Monday, June 22, leading to the rapper’s current detention.

The situation reportedly began when the Strategic Deployment Support Center (SDSC)—a unit utilizing real-time surveillance and data to monitor criminal activity—observed an individual, identified as Chuckyy, in possession of a firearm. Authorities noted that the rapper allegedly concealed the weapon inside a black BMW. Upon police arrival, Chuckyy reportedly entered the rear passenger seat of the vehicle and refused to engage with officers or comply with orders to exit.

Given the suspicion that the rapper was armed, officers utilized a window punch tool to breach the vehicle and successfully extract him. Following his arrest, a search of the BMW revealed a Glock 26 9mm semiautomatic pistol equipped with a laser sight and a live round beneath the front passenger seat. Additionally, investigators seized a blue zippered pouch containing $60,000 in cash.

Further investigation confirmed that Chuckyy does not possess a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card or a Concealed Carry License (CCL), both of which are required to legally carry a firearm in Illinois. While the specific charges related to the incident have not been formally disclosed in the proffer letter, the 20-year-old artist, born Charles Edward Davis, was booked into the Cook County jail on June 23. He is currently being held without bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for June 29.

Representatives for the rapper have been contacted for comment, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office continues to review the case.
