Posted by Liana Flores has officially shared her new EP, ‘And so it goes…’, in its entirety. Released via Fiction / Verve Records, the six-track project serves as a deft and refreshing exploration of the profound shifts that have defined her recent life.
The narrative arc of the EP traces a journey of personal evolution, moving from her formative years in the Norfolk countryside to the academic surroundings of St. Andrews, and finally, to the bustling energy of London. ‘And so it goes…’ allows these distinct experiences and emotions to percolate through her artistry. The result is a sound where bossa nova flourishes intermingle with radiant folk and jazzy pop sensibilities, all brought together with remarkable assurance.
Recorded in Los Angeles alongside producer Paul Butler, the EP presents a self-contained world, anchored by Flores’ gorgeous, octave-spanning voice. Reflecting on the project, she notes, “This record is the story of the country girl moving to the city. It’s bossa nova meets pop, inspired by the people, relationships, and glamour of city life.”
She adds, “These songs were informed by my experiences living in the city and touring for the first time. I grew up and studied in small towns with nature in my surroundings, so that’s what came naturally in terms of lyrics. I also wanted to challenge myself to write songs with strong melodies that would be fun to sing or to get ready to.”
