Baby Taylah has always sought out music as a means to express her emotions.
Some things simply go beyond words, and it’s in these spaces that she sculpts her songs.
Drafting gorgeous alt-pop meditations, this Glasgow original has a striking, utterly unique voice.
New single ‘Home’ finds Baby Taylah seeking out her roots, attempting to locate some solid foundations.
Shaken by the loss of her mother, ‘Home’ is a song about longing, a piece that channels absence, and the lingering impact of grief.
She comments: “The song itself is written about the longing you feel to be around someone who is no longer in your daily life. Menial everyday tasks like simply travelling back home with that person is something you would pay a high price just to experience it for one last time.”
The stunning video takes Baby Taylah to Glencoe, with the overwhelming landscapes of the Highlands acting as a counterpoint to her feelings.
“The video is really personal for me as we based the idea around the loss of my mum,” she says. “We wanted to touch upon the feeling of sadness in the track by turning that into a longing for someone who isn’t coming back.”
“Placing it in a big open space like Glencoe really pushed the solitude and loneliness of grief, where you’re always looking for something you can’t quite find anywhere but within yourself.”
