YouTube children’s educator Ms. Rachel has officially announced her commitment to match Macklemore‘s $1 million donation to organizations providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians. This significant pledge follows the rapper’s public call for wealthy celebrities to utilize their platforms and resources to support those affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, Ms. Rachel shared a message on her Instagram page, explicitly stating her intention to mirror the rapper’s contribution. “I will match Macklemore’s donation and I invite every wealthy white celebrity to match it and speak out against the genocide in Gaza,” she wrote. Highlighting the urgency of the situation, she noted that over 20,000 Palestinian children have been killed, emphasizing that there is a “moral obligation to use our privilege and platforms to protect children and human rights.”

Context of the Humanitarian Pledge

Ms. Rachel’s decision arrives amid a broader conversation regarding celebrity activism and the fallout surrounding Macklemore‘s recent removal from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour. The rapper was reportedly dropped from the tour following his vocal pro-Palestine remarks, a move that faced pressure from stadium owners, including Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillette Stadium.

The controversy led to a wave of solidarity, with several artists—including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, and Beoga—withdrawing from the tour in support of the “Thrift Shop” artist. In response to the situation, Macklemore announced he would donate his entire $1 million earnings from the tour to six organizations dedicated to supporting Palestinians. He subsequently challenged Robert Kraft to match his donation.

Corporate and Celebrity Responses

In a statement released via the Gillette Stadium Instagram account, Robert Kraft addressed the challenge, noting that he had already been in discussions with Ed Sheeran regarding a $2 million donation to humanitarian efforts in the region. “I have dedicated much of my life to building bridges between all people. I believe deeply that all lives are worth protecting,” Kraft stated. While he confirmed his commitment to the cause, he did not specify which organizations would receive the funds.

As the conversation continues, the public pledges from figures like Ms. Rachel and the ongoing discourse surrounding tour cancellations highlight the growing intersection of entertainment, philanthropy, and global political advocacy.
