Burial's Rave Burner 'Chemz' Opens A New Chapter

Burial has shared new track ‘Chemz’.

The producer recently linked with Four Tet and Thom Yorke for a one off 12 inch, a physical drop limited to independent record shops.

‘Chemz’ / ‘Dolphinz’ is out in February through Hyperdub, and it seems to mark a return to his rave roots.

Chopped up jungle breaks propel ‘Chemz’ forward, while the woozy female vocal is given some typically painterly Burial touches.

A few voices are claiming that the track samples a Wolf Alice remix – specifically the one below, with a snippet at 4:48.

Hyperdub got in touch following an earlier version of this story, and ruled it out. It does sound similar, though – a coincidence? Or using similar programming?
