Live footage of seminal Glasgow group Life Without Buildings has emerged online.
The band’s sole studio album has gained a new generation of listeners, with its sweeping invention causing it to go viral on TikTok.
A new vinyl pressing has been arranged, with cult classic ‘Any Other City’ hitting shelves on April 23rd.
Digging into the archives, live footage of Live Without Buildings performing on short-lived but much-loved late night Scottish music show The Beat Room has found its way online.
Duglas Stewart was music supervisor on the show, and – we assume – held on to the tape, which features a performance of ‘The Leanover’.
Spartan and improvisatory, its delicate structure feels all the more imposing for its precocity, with Sue Tompkins clutching the lyric sheet in one hand.
Now… how about an online Beat Room archive, huh?
Check out ‘The Leanover’ below.
