Idlewild Confirm 25th Anniversary Shows

Idlewild have confirmed plans for a series of 25th anniversary shows.

The Scottish group are ready to toast a milestone birthday, with 2020 representing 25 years since their first show.

Forming in Edinburgh, Idlewild have weathered time and trend, moving from the underground to the Top 10, taking time out, and returning in grand fashion.

2020 will be a busy year for the group, who promise “several special projects and releases” in their latest announcement.

“When Rod, Colin and I met and formed idlewild in 1995, I don’t suppose any of us expected that we’d still be playing shows and recording songs together twenty five years later,” says frontman and singer Roddy Woomble. “It feels great to get the chance to celebrate the records and songs we have made together over the last quarter of a century with our fans, and these very special concerts will feature all the band members who have been part of the Idlewild family and story since 1995.”

“Music is a flowing art form and Idlewild have adapted and changed as time dictated in a natural way,” he continues.

The 25th anniversary shows launch in Cardiff on November 4th, before hitting London, Manchester, Dublin, and Belfast.

Closing in Edinburgh’s beautiful Usher Hall on November 14th, tickets go on general sale from 9am on March 13th.

Idlewild will play the following shows:

November
4 Cardiff Tramshed
5 London Electric Brixton
9 Manchester O2 Ritz
10 Dublin Button Factory
11 Belfast The Empire
14 Edinburgh Usher Hall
