In a delightful turn of events for wildlife enthusiasts and hip-hop fans alike, a pair of meerkats named after rap royalty Cardi B and Biggie have welcomed their fifth litter at Scotland’s Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park. The new arrivals, born on May 5, mark a significant milestone for the park, as the pair has now successfully expanded their family to 19 members since arriving at the facility in 2022.

According to park officials, the five pups spent their initial weeks hidden safely underground, as meerkat newborns are typically born blind, deaf, and hairless. In the wild, meerkats rely on the support of their close-knit social groups, known as mobs, to protect and nurture the young. True to their nature, the older siblings at the safari park have been actively involved in the care of the new arrivals.

The pups officially made their public debut on May 29, 2026, much to the delight of visitors and staff. Carolyn Booth, a Pets Farm Team Leader at the zoo, noted the rapid development of the litter. “The pups are starting to find their feet and already you can see their little personalities emerging,” Booth said. “It’s a brilliant stage to watch and the whole mob has really stepped up to help raise them. It’s a proper family effort, and the group dynamic is fascinating to see at this size.”

This latest litter continues a prolific streak for the famous meerkat couple. The pair previously welcomed four pups on September 28, 2025, further cementing their status as the park’s most successful breeding pair. As the pups continue to grow, they will soon transition from their underground abode to exploring the enclosure and sampling solid foods, providing a fascinating look at the complex social structures of these charismatic animals.
