San Cisco have this way of balancing beauty and sadness in one perfectly defined whole.
The three-piece are loosely pop in their approach, crafting these oh-so-affecting vignettes that pluck at the heart strings.
New single ‘Skin’ is the perfect example. The reverb-soaked guitar line hints at David Lynch, but the shimmering effects bely a heart of gold.
It’s a song about longing and regret, about two people moving in and out of people’s lives, with shared experiences and mutual hurts.
Wistful melancholy delivered in a wonderfully poignant way, Jordi Davieson says of ‘Skin’:
“‘Skin’ is about being left by a partner that was meant to be ‘forever.’ Being frustrated with the fact you have no control of the situation and living at the mercy of your soon to not be lover’s decisions. You still see a small glimmer of hope, but ultimately it’s over…”
The full video for ‘Skin’ was recorded in Byron Bay Australia, this wonderful slow-moving clip that places San Cisco at the heart of their music.
