Big Sean brought out Mike Posner as a surprise guest for his lively Coachella set on Friday (April 23), and what many fans weren’t aware of was just how close the Detroit pair had been during the early stages of their careers.
Sean Don made that brotherly bond abundantly clear when he shouted out Posner’s father on stage, whom he had called “Daddy Pose,” and who had recently died from brain cancer. The close friends hugged it out on stage and shared some kind words, but just to drive the point home, Mike Posner later put together a little video to show fans just how deep their bond goes.
Posner posted the video to his Instagram on Wednesday (April 27). The heartfelt visual, which features a compilation of old clips of the pair in the studio and kicking it backstage, was to thank Sean for giving the pop singer his big break and for always believing in him.
“I’m still emotional from this,” the “Cooler Than Me” singer wrote in the caption. “The fact that this man took time out of a career crowning moment in front 50,000+ people to share with me and honor my father…I don’t know, I’m speechless. what I do know is I wouldn’t be here without Sean Anderson.”
He continued, “But it’s bigger than us. Sean showed me that if you can believe it you will see it. We both hope that inspiration bleeds out of our microphones and into your hearts. Anything you desire to be, do, or have…is possible. So what are you gonna do now!!!?????!!!???”

Big Sean reciprocated the love by reposting the video on his Twitter.
“WHAT A STORY,” he wrote in the caption.
During Big Sean’s first solo Coachella performance last weekend, the Detroit rapper brought out his longtime girlfriend Jhené Aiko and YG while also running through some of his classic hits such as “Dance (A$$), “Paradise,” “My Last” and “I Don’t Fuck With You.”
“I wanted to give people an experience,” Sean told The Hollywood Reporter before the show. “It’s definitely a very intentional set. One of the things I have on my side is that I’ve been here so long that I have some nostalgic songs and some songs that I feel like will take people back and bring up some good memories.”
