While Bobby Shmurda is busy working on his upcoming album, the Brooklyn rap star is giving back to his community. On Monday (October 4), Bobby Shmurda donated 2,000 backpacks full of school supplies for students all across New York City.
The book bags were filled with pencils, pens, pencil cases, notebooks, folders, highlighters and more. The donations went to six NYC schools ranging from elementary school to high school, including P.S. 268 Emma Lazarus, P.S. 219 Kennedy King and P.S. 92 Adrian Hegeman in Brooklyn; Eagle Academy for Young Men III in Queens; P.S. 76 A. Philip Randolph in Harlem; and Health Opportunities High School in the Bronx.
Bobby Shmurda also recorded a video message for the students, urging them to keep out of trouble and stay in school.
“Please do not give your mommas no trouble this year,” the “Hot N-gga” rapper said. “And please do not give your teachers no trouble this year. I want to say that I’m proud of y’all for being brave, for being strong, and for staying in school. Always remember you guys are unstoppable. You can do anything you set your mind to.”
Bobby Shmurda has been doing plenty of philanthropic work this year. In June, Shmurda organized a special Father’s Day event for 200 underprivileged families at The Win Shelter in his hometown of Brooklyn.
Meanwhile, on the music side, Bobby is gearing up to drop his highly-anticipated upcoming album, his first full-length release since coming home from prison in February.
Over the weekend, Bobby Shmurda took to his Instagram with an update for fans regarding his upcoming album and even dropped off a few dance moves in the process. In the first clip, Bobby stands next to a friend as music plays in the background.
“Wen yu almost done mixing the album,” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram Story.
