Chinatown, NYC trio Chanpan have unleashed their new single ‘confessions part iii’, a gritty, high-energy prelude to their forthcoming EP ‘autogratis’, which is set for release on June 25th.
Following the momentum of their previous release ‘buzzin’, the band pivots toward a pure, unadulterated rock sound on this latest track. ‘confessions part iii’ is defined by its grizzled guitar riffs, eerie, atmospheric “la la” chants, and a collection of punk-infused anthemics that showcase the band’s evolving sonic identity.
For the production of ‘autogratis’, the trio reunited with a powerhouse team of collaborators, including producer Frankie Scoca—known for his work with NewJeans and Sevdaliza—alongside mix engineer Migui Maloles and mastering engineer Alec Ness. The project also features contributions from new collaborators such as Louie Lastic, Taydex, and Wes Singerman, adding fresh textures to their established sound.
Chanpan’s origins are deeply rooted in the streets of Chinatown, NYC, where members Grace Dumdaw (they/them) and identical twin brothers Lance and Matthew Tran (both he/him) first began busking to fund the recording of their debut EP, ‘endlessly’.
The release of this new single arrives as the band embarks on their European headline debut. The tour kicks off tonight in Rotterdam, with a string of highly anticipated performances across the continent, including stops at London’s Lower Third and Brighton’s The Great Escape.
