Yung Miami has been joked on for years about her rap skills, all the way back to when fans discovered Lil Yachty wrote her verse on City Girls’ smash hit “Act Up.” After once more hearing from fans attempting to clown her, she took to Twitter to point out that regardless of how people may feel about her skills, plenty of fans love them.
“Y’all say I can’t rap God said “I can that’s why I’m doing it he put me here,” she wrote on Twitter Friday (Septemeber 18). “Why would I quit and this is how I feed my family? I got two kids that’s depending on me!”

Miami spent the majority of 2018 and 2019 holding City Girls down from guest appearances to interviews while fellow member JT finished out her year and a half long sentence for credit card fraud. When it came time for the duo to release City On Lock in June, fans were quick to remind Miami of how much she improved as a rapper since their Girl Code debut.
Yung Miami has been a staunch defender of her rhymes and her notoriety in Hip Hop. During Brandy and Monica’s record-breaking Verzuz battle on August 31, the Florida native was quick to shade Brandy after the R&B singer couldn’t recall her name.
After Monica introduced her 2006 hit “Sideline Ho,” she brought up Yung Miami’s government name, Caresha to be funny. Brandy turned around and looked off stage for some clarity as to who Monica was referring to before asking her who was Caresha. Once she was informed, Brandy quickly apologized when she realized it was the City Girls rapper. Miami’s name began to trend on social media, prompting her to respond on Twitter, “I only know 2 Brandy songs so we even” before later deleting it and admitting she was joking.
“I was just playing y’all damn I’m singing how you ever right now lol,” she wrote.
