Diddy attended a Vanity Fair party following the 94th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (March 27) where Will Smith infamously smacked Chris Rock across the face. At some point, the Bad Boy Records mogul allegedly told Page Six, “That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that. It’s all love. They’re brothers.”
But Diddy is now denying he said that and claims he was misquoted. Speaking to TMZ, he said, “I never confirmed they had reconciled. I said, ‘As brothers, they will work it out, and let’s move on with love.’” A source close to Diddy reportedly added, “He knows people are hurting, and doesn’t want to become the middleman or take the focus off of the conflict moving forward in the right way.”

Shortly after Diddy’s comments started making the rounds, source close to the famed comedian shot down the claim, confirming the two Hollywood heavyweights haven’t spoken since the incident. As reported by TMZ, Rock was left “shaken and bewildered” and immediately went to his dressing room with “no intention” of staying. He quickly left the Dolby Theatre and eventually surfaced at Guy Oseary’s Oscars After Party where he attempted to blow off some steam.
Smith smacked Rock after he made a G.I. Jane joke about his wife Jada Pinkett who suffers from alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. The source confirmed Rock had no idea she has the condition and added he “doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.”
The former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star has since apologized publicly to Chris Rock, admitting he was way out of line. Rock, however, has remained mum on the subject. During an interview with ABC6, Smith’s mother Carolyn Bright said she was surprised by her son’s actions, noting she’d never seen that side of him before.
