Dijon Does SNL Promo, Teases Justin Vernon’s Appearance

It’s been a big year for Dijon, who released Baby in August to critical acclaim and appeared in Paul Thomas Anderson’s brilliant One Battle After Another. He’s up for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical and Album Of The Year (for his work on Justin Bieber’s Swag) at next year’s Grammys and he’ll be going on a stadium tour with Zach Bryan. This weekend he’ll make his SNL debut so he’s now appeared in the requisite teaser for the episode, alongside Melissa McCarthy and Kenan Thompson. We learn Thompson likes Dijon’s music and McCarthy doesn’t like his buzzcut.

Dijon appeared on Bon Iver’s Grammy nominated SABLE, fABLE this year too, and it’s looking like SNL musical guest alumnus Justin Vernon might join him on the show. Yesterday Dijon posted a photo seemingly from rehearsal with a big squad that included Vernon. (He could just be there for moral support though.) Zack Villere is there too and in the back it looks like Mulherin, the musical brothers who’ve joined Dijon onstage on his current tour. That might be Nick Hakim at the keyboard — he sat in with the band in Brooklyn on Tuesday. The guy on his phone who looks like SNL alumnus Mk.gee is actually bassist Daniel Aged. Dijon previously tagged all touring band members when announcing his SNL debut so we assume that’s Amber Coffman, the lone woman, obscured on the mic. Justin Bieber was at a Tokyo fish market on Tuesday so don’t expect him to show up.

On Monday Dijon canceled Friday’s show in Silver Spring, MD due to the physical and logistical challenge of adding SNL into his week. Tonight is Dijon’s third NYC show at Terminal 5 following two at Brooklyn Paramount. Watch the SNL teaser below
