Drake fans have been eagerly awaiting his sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy, the follow-up to his 2018 double album Scorpion. The project was originally supposed to drop in January, but a knee injury sidelined the album.
Over the last six months, Drake has dangled the project in front of his fans, even trolling them with an alleged tracklist that was nothing more than his 3-year-old son Adonis’ scribbles.
But in a recent interview with battle rap league URLTV at their NOMEXI event, Drake gave a promising update for those who’ve been anxiously anticipating new music from the OVO Sound boss. When pushed on a specific release date for Certified Lover Boy, Drake refused to confirm when the album would arrive.
However, when a guest mentioned the end of the summer, he said, “Oh yeah, I’ll be there. My album will be out by then.”

Drake momentarily whet his fans’ pallets when he dropped Scary Hours 2 in March. When speaking on the project, he described it as nothing more than a “warm up ting” to his “next masterpiece,” building even more hype around Certified Lover Boy.
The Toronto-bred artist shared a snippet of a new song called “Fair Trade” in May. In the 81-second preview, he plays the entire first verse and chorus as well as the first few lines from the second verse.
“Feeling young but they treat me like the OG,” he raps. “And they want the tea on me, I swear these bitches nosy/Said he put some money on my head, I guess we gon’ see/I won’t put no money on his head, my n-ggas owe me/I gotta be single for a while, you can’t control me/Uno, dos, tres in a race they can’t hold me.”
