Drake Taps 'CLB' Cover Artist Damien Hirst For Custom Air Force 1s

Drake tapped British contemporary artist Damien Hirst to create the design for the cover art to his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, and it looks like the two aren’t done working with each other.

Over the weekend, B/R Kicks shared images on their Twitter of Hirst gifting Drake a pair of custom Nike Air Force 1 Lows. The gesture comes as a result of Hirst celebrating Drake releasing his commercially successful Certified Lover Boy while the Toronto rap star vacations in London.

Hirst took an all-white pair of Nike Air Force 1 Lows and smeared green, orange, yellow, black, pink and more colors all over the upper. The midsole is left in its original white color with a special message from Hirst congratulating the 6 God.

Drake took to his Instagram to show more of his meet-up with the British artist. In his post, fans see Drake embrace Hirst while walking through the London streets with him and his team. Drake’s friendship with Hirst caused quite the commotion when they revealed the album cover for Certified Lover Boy last month.

For this design, Hirst put together a collage of pregnant women emojis together. The cover became a trending topic on social media and drew all types of responses from people who either hated the cover, loved it or didn’t understand it.

While the cover art and actual music of Certified Lover Boy have people debating, Drake is enjoying the album’s astronomical run. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and had the biggest first-week of 2021 with over 613,000 total album-equivalent units earned. He maintained his position at the top spot with roughly 236,000 total album-equivalent units earned in its second week.

If that wasn’t enough, Drake also broke a Billboard record with Certified Lover Boy. The album helped the 34-year-old become the first artist to simultaneously chart nine songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10.
