Detroit, MI – Eminem has been talking about “Mom’s spaghetti” since 2002 when he unleashed his Academy Award-winning single “Lose Yourself” from the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In 2017, he served up a hearty helping of actual spaghetti when he launched the Mom’s Spaghetti pop-up at The Shelter, a local Detroit music venue. Last year, he brought it back in an effort to feed frontline workers at several local hospitals as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.
Now, Slim Shady is opening up an official brick and mortar restaurant called — yep! — Mom’s Spaghetti. According to The Detroit News, an ad for the local diner popped up on the Motor City television channel WXYZ Friday (September 24).
The 30-second spot begins with an image of Eminem towering over the Detroit skyline, vomiting up a carton of his signature spaghetti into the Detroit River. It ends with Eminem presumably giving the middle finger but with Mom’s Spaghetti cartons censoring the gesture.

In addition to a “S’ghetti Sandwich” and the Mom’s Spaghetti — which will be available with or without meatballs — hungry patrons will also be able to check out “The Trailer,” a store for Stans.
Mom’s Spaghetti became a reality with the help of the Metro Detroit restaurant group, Union Joints, which also teamed with Eminem for the aforementioned pop-ups.
Union Joints opened Union Assembly, a two-tier, 500-seat restaurant at the same address as Mom’s Spaghetti at Woodward and Columbia, on Wednesday (September 22). Mom’s Spaghetti will be attached to the Union Assembly.
Mom’s Spaghetti is expected to open on Wednesday (September 29). For more information, call (313) 888-8388.
