Kid Cudi Joins Disney+ Movie After Shelving ‘Man On The Moon III’ Deluxe

Kid Cudi has been cast in an upcoming sci-fi movie titled Crater that’s set to be released on Disney +.

According to Deadline, Crater is a coming-of-age story about a boy growing up on a lunar colony who takes a trip to explore a mysterious crater with four friends, with Kid Cudi playing the role of a father. Overseen be Disney’s live-action team, the film is set to be shot in the spring with co-stars including Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Billy Barratt, Orson Hong, Thomas Boyce and Mckenna Grace.

Kyle Patrick Alvarez is directing the film, with John Griffin writing, and Shawn Levy and Dan Levine producing.

Over the past year, Kid Cudi has starred in HBO’s Westworld and We Are Who We Are, along with roles in Bill & Ted Face The Music and Crisis with Gary Oldman. He also executive produced the Netflix movie Malcolm & Marie starring Zendaya and John David Washington, which was released in February.

The Crater news arrives after Cudi ditched plans to release a deluxe version of his Man on the Moon III: The Chosen album earlier this week.

“Im sorry yall but im not doin a deluxe of motm3,” he tweeted on Monday (May 17). “Ive decided to start workin on new material and the shit is madness!! Cant wait for yall to hear!! Arghhhh!!! The snippet I released is for something special im doin. Ull see very soon.”

He added, “Entergalactic album and show droppin 2022 end of summer!! Recorded the first season and couldn’t be more hyped for yall to see. Ur gonna be blown away. Next level shit only. Changing the game as always. Got some other magical shit in the chamber comin soon!! A lots happening. Stay fuckin tuned baby.”

Released in December 2020, Man on the Moon III debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with roughly 144,000 album-equivalent units sold its first week, becoming his fifth Top 10 album. Artists such as Pop Smoke, Trippie Redd and Skepta appeared on the project.

In the early hours of Thursday morning (May 20), Kid Cudi took to his Instagram Stories to preview a brand new song.
