Dream Chasers artist Lil Snupe was seemingly on his way to a fruitful career when his life was cut short at just 18 years old. The Louisiana native was shot to death in June 2013 after an argument over a video game broke out inside a friend’s apartment at Maplewood Apartment Complex. Snupe was hit twice in the chest and later succumbed to his injuries.
Nearly a week after the killing, 36-year-old Tony Holden turned himself in and was booked into the Winnfield city jail on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A second suspect, Edrick O. Stewart, was arrested and charged with the murder in early July 2013.
Unfortunately for Lil Snupe’s father Charlie Brown, he was incarcerated at the time of his son’s death and unable to attend his funeral or visit his grave — until now. On Monday (April 12), Brown shared a video to his @BigSnupe318 Instagram account documenting his trip to the cemetery after serving 20 years in prison. As he explains in the video, with flowers in hand, Brown wasn’t able to properly grieve his son until he was released.
“I been holding this shit right here since 2013,” he says at the beginning of the video. “Held this shit eight years in the pen. I had to hold it in.”

Once Charlie Brown arrives to Lil Snupe’s gravesite, he’s immediately disappointed by its appearance and insists he should have a proper headstone.
“You need to see what muthafuckin’ Nipsey Hussle’s look like, you need to see what muthafuckin’ King Von’s shit look like,” he says. “This n-gga ain’t got no muthafuckin’ headstone on this shit. God damn. I never thought I’d come see my muthafuckin’ son and he’d have no muthafuckin’ headstone.
“There should be a monument up to this n-gga’s shit. Man, what the fuck went on? Did Meek Mill see him get put in the ground? Was Meek Mill around here to see him get put in the ground? He wasn’t around here to see him put in the ground? But he came and seen him in the casket?”
He added, “Supposed to see n-ggas put in the fuckin’ ground, man. I don’t know what the fuck going on, why the n-gga ain’t got no muthafuckin’ headstone. Shit ain’t supposed to be like this. He was affiliated with Roc Nation. JAY-Z, I see you fuck with goddamn your kids to the fullest. You love Blue Ivy and them. I love Lil Snupe. Don’t get it twisted … Ain’t been no rappers down here that was fucking with Lil Snupe? One of them n-ggas in the rap game? One of them major ass n-ggas? Y’all dudes say y’all solid, man. … Snupe wouldn’t have did y’all like that, bruh.”
Lil Snupe and Meek Mill initially crossed paths at Grambling State University tour stop in 2012. The then-17-year-old passed his demo along to the Maybach Music Group artist and made an immediate impression. Meek signed Lil Snupe to Dream Chasers almost instantaneously.
“He was in a van, they was finna pull off,” Snupe told MTV at the time. “And I went and knocked on the van, on the window. They let the window down, grabbed the mixtape and it was like 10 minutes later, 20 minutes later they called me.”
