Nipsey Hussle‘s estate is celebrating his life with several new ventures, one of them being a new documentary about his cannabis strain, Marathon OG. On Friday (May 20), The Marathon Cultivation Documentary landed on YouTube for fans looking to hear the story of Nip and his brother Blacc Sam’s journey to sell marijuana legitimately.
The documentary runs at 35 minutes and digs deep into Nip and Blacc’s difficult path to get their strain in dispensaries. The film uses archival footage and actual interviews with people who witnessed the early beginnings up until the actual launch of their store, The Marathon (Collective), which will open in Canoga Park on June 18.
The late rapper’s family and friends attended a special screening for the documentary earlier this week on the rooftop of the newest Marathon Clothing store on Melrose in Los Angeles, California. People got to watch the film and had the chance to purchase the latest drops from The Marathon Clothing company and Nipsey’s Puma collaboration.
“We’ve been in the marijuana business for a minute, illegally,” Blacc Sam said at the screening. “We always had our eyes on a legit license and we wanted to put together something that explains the journey.”
Fellow California native Snoop Dogg, a known cannabis advocate, recently revealed Nipsey Hussle wrote his 2016 song “Ten Toes Down.” The Doggfather made the revelation on Instagram on Thursday (May 19) with a video of him listening to the track.
“The late great @nipseyhussle wrote this for me,” he wrote. “10ToesDown. Coolaid. Albulm.”
