Plies Takes ‘Full Responsibility’ For Kirk Franklin’s Unholy Curse-Filled Rant Toward Son

Gospel singer Kirk Franklin was forced to issue a public apology after his 32-year-old son Kerrion shared an expletive-laced phone call from him to social media. During the conversation, the 16x-Grammy Award winner berated his son for being poor and threatened to stick his foot up his “skinny muthafuckin’ ass.”

“Recently my son and I had an argument that he chose to record,” the choir director said in a video posted via Twitter on Saturday (March 13). “I felt extremely disrespected in that conversation and I lost my temper and I said words that are not appropriate and I am sincerely sorry to all of you. I sincerely apologize.”

But Fort Myers, Florida-born rapper and former Miami Redskins wide receiver Plies isn’t holding it against the elder Franklin. In fact, he wants to get him on an album. On Sunday morning (March 14), the 44-year-old tweeted, “I Gotta Put My Dawg On The Album Now 4real!!!! He Sounded Just Like Me On That Phone Bih!!!! #AintNoneOfUsPerfect.”

Plies then decided to let Franklin completely off the hook and blame himself, adding, “That Was NOT My Dawg On That Phone That Was ME!!!!! #ITakeFullResponsiblityForThoseActions.”

As far as the father-son relationship goes, Franklin explained it’s been toxic for years.

“We’ve tried for many years through counseling, through therapy to try to rectify this private family matter,” Franklin said in his statement. “He never played that part on the recording. I’m not perfect. I’m human and I’m going to make mistakes and I’m trying to get it right. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.”

Kerrion didn’t accept his father’s apology but implored people to go easy on him.

“He apologized to his fans only and not me,” he wrote. “This is why I’m Done. Plz do not crucify my father. I am not here to bash him across the board. I didn’t even cuss in the recording.

“I just said what he said back to me. my father has been speaking very mean & manipulatively to me for 15 years now. My voice will be heard. I forgive him for the past pain.”

Meanwhile, as Franklin’s name continued to trend on Twitter, the always comedic Vince Staples added his two cents, writing, “I couldn’t imagine turning down Kirk Franklin fade that’s embarrassing.”
