Pierre “P” Thomas, the influential cofounder of Quality Control Music, is currently hospitalized after reportedly suffering a heart attack at the age of 45. The music industry executive was rushed to the ICU at a Las Vegas hospital this past Friday, August 21, following a sudden medical emergency.
In a statement provided to the press, a representative for the executive confirmed his current status: “We want to clarify that Pierre ‘P’ Thomas is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care. We ask that everyone keep P and his family in their thoughts and prayers and respectfully give them the privacy and space they need during this time.” The statement further noted, “We deeply appreciate everyone’s concern, support, prayers, and loving energy right now.”
Since cofounding the Atlanta-based powerhouse label alongside Kevin “Coach K” Lee in 2013, P has been a central figure in modern hip-hop. His leadership has been instrumental in the meteoric rise of superstars including Migos, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, and the City Girls. Under his guidance, the label has evolved into a multifaceted entertainment entity, recently securing a $320 million deal with Hybe America in 2023.
Reflecting on the legacy he hopes to build, P shared his perspective in a 2023 interview, stating, “That we was a Black company that came in this business with a lot of doors closed on us. And we overcame a lot of adversity and developed some of the biggest superstars of our time.”
As the industry rallies around him, his team remains focused on his recovery. Further updates regarding his condition will be shared as they become available.
