T-Pain dropped a bombshell revelation during his appearance on the upcoming Netflix series This Is Pop. According to the singer, Usher caused him to go into a serious four-year bout with depression after he told T-Pain he “fucked up music.”
Now, T-Pain fans are unhappy and are taking to social media demanding Usher and the music industry issue an apology to him. Many felt that T-Pain actually improved the music industry and it was the artists who criticized him that weren’t ready for the incoming transition.
“The music business owes T-Pain an apology,” Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive tweeted.
Another fan chimed in, “T-Pain is one of the nicest most genuine people I’ve met and everyone at Adult Swim loves him, he’s family. Usher, Jay Z, Kanye, and Future (among many others) owe him an apology. He’s a pioneer and they weren’t ready. That’s on THEM.”

Others criticized Usher for blaming T-Pain but turning around and using Auto-Tune in his own music.
“Wait So You Mean To Tell Me Usher Told T-Pain He Fucked Up Music Using Autotune……Then Used Autotune On “OMG”???,” another person wrote.
Another said, “Usher telling T-Pain he ruined music when he was twerking with Pitbull and Will I Am is funny as hell.”

As the story goes, T-Pain was on a flight when a flight attendant told the “Buy You A Drank” rapper Usher wanted to speak to him. T-Pain went to Usher’s section of the plane and what happened next shook the Florida native to his core.
“Usher was my friend,” T-Pain said in the clip. “I really respect Usher. And he said, ‘I’m gonna tell you something, man. You kinda fucked up music.’”

T-Pain thought Usher’s comment was a joke initially and laughed it up until the Confessions singer reiterated his statement.
“And then he was like, ‘Yeah man you really fucked up music for real singers,’” T-Pain continued to say. “I was like, ‘What did I do? I came out and I used Auto-Tune.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, you fucked it up.’ I’m like, ‘But I used it, I didn’t tell everybody else to start using it.’”
T-Pain added, “That is the very moment, and I don’t even think I realized this for a long time, but that’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me.”
