Following Will Smith’s public apology and responses from Jada Pinkett Smith and his mother, Chris Rock’s brother Tony Rock is saying his piece regarding the Oscars slap fiasco between Chris and Will.
On Friday (April 1), a video began circulating of Tony Rock’s latest stand-up show. During the short video clip, Tony Rock appears to open his set by addressing Will Smith’s decision to physically assault Chris Rock at the Oscars on March 27 after the veteran comic made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald appearance, which is caused by a medical condition called alopecia.
Unlike Wiz Khalifa, who joked about shooting anyone who got the idea to approach him on stage like Will Smith during the premiere of his Still Rolling Papers documentary, Tony Rock made it very clear he was serious about the consequences for anyone who may attempt to inflict the same sort of violence on him.
“If you think you going to walk up on this stage, this ain’t the muthafucking Oscars!” Tony Rock said. “And if you walk your ass up here, you ain’t nominated for shit but these muthafucking hands! Oh, we going to pop the rest of the year, n-gga. Every time you see me do a show, pop!”
He continued, “You gonna hit my muthafucking brother because your bitch gave you a side-eye?”
After the clip began trending on social media, Tony Rock continued the conversation on Twitter by replying to snarky remarks from users trolling Chris Rock and the situation at large.
In addition to firmly expressing his disapproval of Will Smith’s written apology via Instagram, writing “No,” in response to a user who asked if he accepted the Oscar Award-winning actor’s words, he also tweeted that Chris Rock was “Still rich,” for those wondering how he was dealing with the situation.
He even joked that his mother “Momma Rock,” hits harder than both Will and Jada put together.

It would appear that Chris Rock doesn’t share the same energy as his flesh-and-blood brother on the matter, as he told an audience during one of his recent Ego Death Tour stops that he was still “processing,” the situation and would address it at some point in both a serious and humorous fashion.
However, on March 30, Chris Rock completely ignored a paparazzi photographer who asked if he was willing to answer a few questions in footage obtained by TMZ.
The comedian also completely shut down a “Fuck Will Smith,” chant at one of his stand-up shows in Boston at the historic Wilbur Theater.
On April 1 Will Smith announced his formal resignation from the Academy, revealing how “heartbroken,” he was in regards to the pain he caused Chris Rock, his family, and his fellow Academy members as a result of his actions.
