Jeremy Loops has always sought to be in touch with the environment that surrounds him.
Growing up in a surfing town on the South African coast, he intimately knows the relationship we have with our ecology.
These beliefs are interwoven into his music, gorgeous acoustic meditations overlaid with superb pop textures.
Breakout single ‘Gold’ caught international attention, and his new single ‘Mortal Man’ arrives at an apt moment.
Out now, it’s beautifully rendered, a heart-rending look at our own failings that comes as the coronavirus pandemic raises the issue of our mutual mortality.
A touching single, it comes with a tear-jerking video, one that stars an 85-year-old COVID-19 survivor.
On the inspiration for the video, Jeremy says :”We are going through a time where, globally, everyone has been forced to face their mortality.”
“Sadly, the elderly are more at risk, so I have been spending a lot of quality time with granny Laundry. I played her an acoustic version of ‘Mortal Man’ in the garden, she smiled and enjoyed it. We spent a nice morning together, I showed her how to play the harmonica, and we just enjoyed each other’s company.”
