It’s been over a month since soul goddesses Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight went head-to-head in the latest Verzuz battle — but it looks like that’s about to change. On Tuesday night (October 13), Verzuz co-founder Swizz Beatz shared an Instagram post announcing “Season 2” of the popular Instagram Live series.
He wrote in the caption, “Ohhh ohhhhh who you want to see in season 2. @verzuztv stay tuned all the way!”

Verzuz was established earlier this year as a way to combat the quarantine blues. Early matchups included RZA and DJ Premier, Teddy Riley and Babyface and Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Due to the success of the series, Apple Music came knocking and apparently offered Swizz and Timbo an offer they couldn’t refuse.
As of July, episodes are simulcast live on Apple Music and Beats 1 simultaneously as the Verzuz Instagram Live channel. They’re also exclusively available via Apple Music on-demand following the live stream.
Apple Music vowed to work alongside Swizz and Timbo to produce new episodes of Verzuz to “continue giving fans a truly premium, high quality shared experience,” which is a promise the company seems to be keeping.
