S-X
S-X has already helped write a chapter in music history, supplying the iconic 2010 grime instrumental ‘Woo Riddim’.
Voiced by some of the greats, his work as a producer for Childish Gambino, Lil Wayne, Skepta, J.Cole established his notoriety and brought in Grammy Award nominations. But S-X had the hunger for something different.
Stepping into the front line with a slew of new material the Midlands artist smashed his True Colours tour in October. Single ‘Always Wrong’ leading the way, a stellar piece of arena-filling digital R&B. A bold, blockbuster of a track with visuals to match premiered on Clash.
The rolling trap beats lean on Stateside innovations, but there’s still something defiantly UK-centric at play here, an independence of spirit that comes through with each note.
January thankfully brought the follow up ‘Neither Would I’, expanding with giant leaps on the winning formula and setting the stage for 2020 to be S-X’s year.

AMA
“One thing I say is onto the next. No point in fixating on previous releases or something that’s gone wrong. Just focus on moving forward, spread good energy and positivity.” That’s AMA elegantly telling Clash her day-to-day motto.
West London’s latest talk, 19-year-old Ama Maria M Jones is the progressive musician riding a fresh wave of experimental beats from her debut EP ‘Screenluv’. A concoction of six love songs, the up and coming singer-songwriter talked to us about the mechanics of ‘Screenluv’ and how being a millennial attached to technology influences her music within our Next Wave feature here.
Following the blow up of her 2018 single, ‘Monochrome,’ and her February 2019 release, ‘Slip,’ AMA has since been working with a handful of acclaimed producers – Pasque, Jarreau Vandal, and Karma Kid (to list a few) – on the makings of ‘Screenluv’. Having worked on the EP for a year and a half, she emphasises her reaction to all her support: “It’s definitely exciting when I hear a person whose quite established wants to work with me, makes me think I’m doing something right.”
Safe to say we are extremely excited to welcome AMA to the Clash Live stage. Tune into ‘Crystal’ – dropped via Dirty Hit, with visuals from acclaimed director Arnaud Bresson bringing the magic behind the screen, morphing atmospheric camera cuts with lagged images, and the two spent two days across Clapham, Peckham, and Brixton to get all the right textures.

Guvna B
London rapper Guvna B dropped his new single ‘Battle’ and it caught us.
The track shares a sample from Wookie’s all-out UKG classic of the same name, and that garage spring packs the song with infectious energy.
It’s much more than a 2-step bouncer, though, with Guvna B’s lyricism taking things deeper.
Recently discussing aspects of mental health and identity in his podcast series The Loss Tapes, ‘Battle’ is about facing up to life’s challenges.
Soulful and delivered with real intense, ‘Battle’ is a sublime blend of UKG layered production and Guvna B’s potent lyricism.

Natty Wylah
North London rap artist Natty Wylah has shared new single ‘Feel U’.
The song follows last year’s exceptional ‘WHOAMI’ release, with Natty Wylah continuing his pensive, introspective sense of lyricism.
‘Feel U’ utilises the vocal refrain from Jorja Smith’s Preditah-produced banger ‘On My Mind’, turning this into a reflective space for self-exploration.
It’s a hazy, perplexing, and fascinating achievement, one that finds Natty Wylah slowing down his life for a little assessment. He raps: “Its funny it’s sunny outside / but I just feel like sitting indoors…”
Natty says in the press note that ‘Feel U’ “is written from a hungover hole with a faint ray of light shining through contemplation. Through a haze of flings and things – needing something deeper: the light expands throughout the song culminating in a new day, telling them they can hate if they like “‘they’re just wasting their own time.’”. We feel you Natty.

Niia
Holding it down for the Italian-American New York community, pianist and songwriter Niia makes chillingly beautiful avant-garde pop music.
Weaving together noirish R&B, neo-soul and future facing jazz into a sumptuously intoxicating heady sound.
Late night, slow jams that ooze the best memories of old New York lounge bars and dive bars of the outer boroughs.
Having shared stages with our very own Jorja Smith and The xx, Niia has finessed her stagecraft winning fans in collaborator Jazmin Sullivan, Dev Hynes, Caroline Polacheck and more,
Her album ‘II: La Bella Vita’ drops tomorrow and we are over the moon to have Niia travelling over for our show.

Isaac Waddington
Isaac Waddington occupies his own world.
A supremely gifted songwriter, the south coast native was musical from a young age, desperate to explore fresh sounds and new realms.
Somehow, he has gathered this all into one vision, matching digital pop nous to a jazz-tinged rhythmic flexibility.
Comparisons could be made to similar digital auteurs such as Tom Misch, but really Isaac Waddington is out there on his own.
Smashing our residency at Metropolis Studios last year Isaac packed Studio A to the rafters and demonstrated his prowess in the live arena.
With a slew of new material incoming, this is a rare chance to catch Isaac in an intimate setting.
