In a recent interview with Apple Music that premiered on April 24, North Carolina rapper DaBaby made a series of provocative claims regarding his standing in the hip-hop hierarchy. The artist, known for his high-energy delivery and chart-topping hits, boldly declared that he considers himself superior to the industry’s widely recognized “Big 3”: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole.
“I’m the best muthaf**kin’ rapper,” DaBaby stated during the conversation. “I’ve been saying it, and I definitely do mean it.” He clarified that his confidence is not merely a standard expression of self-belief common among artists, but a genuine assessment of his lyrical and musical capabilities. “I’m better than these ni**as. Like, I really mean that,” he emphasized, noting that he possesses the versatility to excel in any musical environment.
Despite his competitive stance, DaBaby expressed a strong desire to collaborate with the trio. He views such a partnership not as a contradiction to his claims, but as an opportunity to prove his skills on the same stage. “I would love to work with these guys,” he explained. “It takes me saying that type of s**t and then putting it on display with the music for those doors to open up for me to end up in the rooms with them.”
DaBaby is currently focused on his latest project, Be More Grateful, and is preparing to headline his own Be More Grateful Festival in North Carolina on June 13. The event is set to feature a robust lineup, including performances by 50 Cent, Boosie BadAzz, BigXThaPlug, Trick Daddy, Waka Flocka Flame, Trina, and Moneybagg Yo.
